The wolf had been shot and was bleeding.
The wolf explained the situation to the farmer:
"Oh my brother! A dozen foresters are chasing me and they want to kill me. Please rescue me from them, I am begging you."
The farmer listened to the wolf's pleas and felt pity for him.
"Oh come into my bag and be quiet so that they cannot find you."
After that the wolf got into the bag. Two minutes later the foresters came and explained that the wolf had been killing their lambs. They asked the farmer if he had seen the wolf. He answered them calmly and covinced them not to look for the wolf there.
They went off into the forest again to find the wolf. The wolf had been saved.
A few minutes later the wolf said to the farmer:
"I'm grateful to you for your help, you are a very kind man. But I haven't eaten anything for 3 days and I am starving. You will be a delicious meal for me!"
The farmer was shocked, but he quickly thought up a temporary solution to postpone his death. He said:
"Mmm! If you eat me you will not find your way home without being caught by the foresters. You'll need my protection when you leave the vicinity of the town. We should continue walking together until we reach your house. And then you can eat me."
The wolf was convinced and they went on walking together.
After some time they came across a fox. The fox asked the wolf:
"How did you get your injuries? What happened? Why are you walking together?"
The wolf told the story and the fox walked alongside.
The farmer whispered in the fox's ear:
"If you rescue me, I'll give you a chicken."
Everybody knows foxes are very cunning animals. The fox quickly decided on a rescue plan for the farmer. He said to the wolf:
"I think your story was absolutely amazing but I can't believe that you fitted in that small bag. You are an enormous animal, but this bag is very tiny I think. You are lying."
The wolf got angry:
"Are you calling me a liar?"
"Actually no! I mean that I don't think you can fit into that little bag," replied the fox.
"I will prove it to you" said the wolf as he climbed into the bag.
The farmer quickly closed the bag and said to the fox:
"You are the most cunning animal I've ever seen in my life. Thank you very much."
And the fox asked: "Where's my chicken?"
The farmer's answer was not what he expected:
"I'm grateful to you, but I also feel sorry for you because I'm going to kill you. Your fur is so dazzling!!!"
